ISO 9001 Fundamentals for Everyday Work

In this course you'll learn what “quality” really means under ISO 9000, how the process approach and risk-based thinking work, and which 7 principles quality management is built on. After that it's all about audits – what an audit is, how it runs, and how nonconformities are handled. In the final part you'll see how it all comes together in everyday work: quality policy and objectives, management review, supplier evaluation and complaints, measuring equipment and the risk register, the competence and training matrix, onboarding, improvement suggestions, and the core processes of development, production and sales. Each level consists of a short video and one interactive exercise.

Quality = the degree to which requirements and expectations are met – not “expensive” or “luxurious”. QMS = processes, responsibilities and repeatable workflows, so quality doesn't depend on luck.
ISO 9000 = fundamentals & vocabulary · ISO 9001 = requirements (certifiable) · ISO 9004 = improving performance · ISO 19011 = auditing guidance. The standard says WHAT, not HOW. PDCA: Plan → Do → Check → Act → and round again, at a higher level.
Process approach: your work is the input for the next process step – never an end point. Risk-based thinking: think about what could go wrong up front, instead of just cleaning up afterwards.
7 principles: customer focus · leadership · engagement of people · process approach · improvement · evidence-based decision making · relationship management.
Audit = a systematic, independent, documented process – not an interrogation. Internal (1st party) · External/customer (2nd party) · Certification (3rd party).
How an audit runs: planning → execution → report → follow-up. Findings: conformity · nonconformity (minor/major) · opportunity for improvement. On a nonconformity: correction → root cause analysis → corrective action (= PDCA “Act”).
Quality policy = the compass (a statement of principle approved by top management). Quality objectives = concrete, measurable waymarks derived from the policy.
What an internal audit turns up doesn't end up in a drawer – it feeds straight into top management's annual management review.
A complaint isn't about blame – whether it comes from a customer or goes to a supplier, it's free raw material for improvement.
A badly calibrated measuring instrument makes every measurement worthless – a risk register makes caution traceable.
The competence matrix shows what is needed – the training matrix shows how the gap gets closed.
New to the company or a new idea – there's a clear, open route for both, and it has nothing to do with hierarchy.
Three core processes, one shared principle: documented, controlled, traceable.
